Question by James S: How will technology influence socializing in the next 20 years?
How will technology influence socializing in the next 20 years?
I already have a few ideas so what I really need are references to opinions on some futurologists. Quotations will also be helpful.

Best answer:

Answer by ET
I am not psychic…but I only see it getting worse.

All technology has done is hinder the communication process. The kids of today rely so heavily on technology to accomplish even the simplest of tasks. We are so deep into “technology” mode that people can barely carry on a conversation. Communication has greatly suffered because of this. Communicating is all through text, email, myspace, etc.
People would rather send an email or text instead of taking a few extra seconds and actually TALK to a person.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the convenience technology has had to offer…but at what expense?

After starting the laptop, Dell Inspiron 600m, there is a part of the screen exactly to the right of the “Dell” logo on the bottom part of the monitor that becomes very very hot, can’t even touch it for too long because it’s so hot. It happens after about 10 minutes of turning it on. The laptop runs only on AC adapter because it stopped working with the battery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Okay, here’s the deal. My girlfriend’s father replaced the hard drive from his ANCIENT Toshiba Sat Laptop with one from a Dell Laptop. Alot of the drivers seem to be having compatibility issues, and I was wondering if there is a conflict because the HD is from a different brand of laptop. Help me out here!

Best answer:

Answer by King Kuro Koopa
You will most likely have to reinstall the Operation System on the new drive, since they will both be installed with totally different drivers that arent meant for the new computer. Other than that if the drives are similar types, it’s fine.

Question by Millie: How to connect my laptop to my wireless printer without going through a router?
I have a new wireless printer. I connected it fine to my laptop at home running Vista, but can’t get it to connect to the laptop in the office running Windows XP. I connect to the internet via a Three dongle, and don’t have a router in the office.

So 2 questions really – is it possible to connect my XP-laptop to the printer – and if so – how?

I’ve read a bit about ad-hoc networks, but can’t work it out!

Best answer:

Answer by cookie_98_99_00
no you cant

You need a router and connect the printer and the laptop to the same network

Question by Angela K: How to get my laptop to recognise a wireless router?
I have got a wireless router and am able to connect to the internet if the Ethernet cable is connected from the router to the laptop. Once I unplug this I lose internet connection. My laptop apparently has inbuilt wireless features I just don’t know how to make it all work!!! Do I have to get another part or set up something on the laptop to make it receive the wireless connection?
Totally Confused

Best answer:

Answer by Mad Dog Laurie
I suspect it doesn’t have wireless.

If you go into network settings, it’ll tell you how many network cards it has.

If it does have a wireless card, you’ll need to give it an IP address similar to the router’s internal address (which is likely to be something like 192.168.0.1) so give it something like 192.168.0.3 or 192.168.0.4.

I have a Dell Latitude E5500 laptop and I need to know how to make the symbols that I would normally just use the Alt codes on the side keyboard (like upside down question marks and such). I KNOW there’s a way, I just don’t know what it is. Any information is helpful, thanks!

Answer by Sparklee
Press “Start” then “All Progams” then “Accesories” then “Accessibility” then “On screen Key Board”
This key board has all of the keys of the keyboard, including the side keys.

If you want to make a symbol, press ALT in the on-screen keyboard, then press the numbers you want to make the symbol, press ALT again. Then voila! (You have to use the on-screen keyboard to make an alt symbol for your laptop.)

?
